IHMC adds Healthspan, Resilience, and Performance research complex

The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) has opened a $40 million Healthspan, Resilience, and Performance Research Complex in Pensacola, aimed at accelerating innovations to improve health and performance for various populations, including military personnel and those with chronic conditions.

Dr. Ken Ford, CEO of IHMC, highlighted the facility's role in pushing the boundaries of science to enhance human resilience and performance from a molecular level to the whole person. The complex is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary research, featuring clinical testing facilities on the first floor and advanced wet laboratories on the third floor right here in Pensacola.

Dr. Morley Stone, Chief Strategic Partnership Officer, noted that this center positions Pensacola as a hub for human and biological sciences, attracting global research talent and funding. The collaborative environment within the facility enhances the ability to leverage AI and machine learning to derive meaningful insights from research data.

Ultimately, the new complex not only aims to advance scientific discovery but also to generate economic growth and address the needs of military veterans, fulfilling IHMC’s commitment to improving the quality of life for service members and the wider community.
